Winners of the Royals Quiz Championship receive their prizes, celebrating knowledge, curiosity, and the growing quiz culture among Chennai students

Arushi, a Class XII student from Chennai is excited. Her team won the third prize Royals Quiz Championship  and won a laptop. It was big. More than a 100 schools vied  for top honours. This was her very first quiz she participated in. “It was filled with new and twisted questions that required strong general knowledge about past, present, and future developments”. The student from Chettinad Vidyasharam School added “We learned, gaining insights into countries, global events, and a wide range of topics”. BV Bhavans Rajaji Vidyashram lifted the trophy and PSBB KK Nagar won the second prize. 

Organised by the Rotary Club of Chennai Royals for the second season, the aim is to turn Chennai into a vibrant hub for quizzing – triggering students to think beyond textbooks, improve their general awareness, and develop curiosity. 

Roped in for the challenge, the Aeronautical Engineer turned professional Quiz Master and Founder of Multiverse Quizzing  Praveen Jayaraj or PJ  who makes quizzing enjoyable, turning it  inclusive, engaging, and accessible. In three rounds the competition was narrowed down to15 contenders in the finals.

“Investing significant time in framing questions with inbuilt clues is my USP and this ensures  a holistic quizzing experience”, Praveen told NDTV. On the joy of quizzing, he added,  “Interacting with children and watching them crack answers seemingly out of nowhere gives me immense joy and I find great fulfilment in being part of their intellectual journey and curiosity-driven quest for knowledge”.

Roshan who’s team lifted the third prize says  “The experience was one of the best I have ever had asked I have been to several quizzes but this one stood out as it was truly competitive and had a very fun vibe to it”.

Into its second season, “One of our main goals is to keep quiz culture alive and growing among students” said Jeyalatha Martin, Quiz Advisor of the club. She added “This championship is our way of investing in informed, thinking young minds! and we hope to see it flourish for many more seasons”.
