What Goes Around Comes Around

You came when all I knew were nightmares, and taught my sleeping heart to dream.

There was a time when words were gold,

When promises were softly told.

A screen, a smile, a voice so near,

A thousand miles could disappear.

You spoke of dreams, of wealth untold,

Of futures bright and fortunes bold.

And I, who trusted what I knew,

Believed the world you painted true.

But strange how quickly seasons change,

How hearts once close become estranged.

The conversations faded away,

And silence had the most to say.

I sought no riches from your hand,

Just honesty enough to understand.

Yet when the truth was yours to give,

You chose a stranger’s life to live.

I did not chase, I did not plead,

Nor let resentment plant its seed.

I simply learned to walk away,

And let the silence have its say.

For time has ways we cannot see,

Of bringing truth to memory.

The towers built on shifting sand

May fall without a human hand.

And now the headlines cross my sight,

Of broken trust and sleepless nights.

I do not smile at others’ pain,

Nor wish for anyone’s loss or shame.

But life remembers what we do,

The seeds we plant, the paths we choose.

No need for vengeance, blame or sound,

For what goes around comes around.

And if our paths should cross once more,

I’ll be the woman I was before

But wiser now, with clearer eyes,

Who knows that truth needs no disguise.

For karma doesn’t need a name,

Nor does forgiveness mean the same.

I lost an illusion, but something I found

My peace, while the world turns around.
