Madurai Woman’s Fifth-Attempt Triumph: Rajeswari Suve Bags UPSC AIR 2, Inspires Aspirants

Rajeswari Suve, who secured All India Rank 2 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, celebrates her remarkable fifth-attempt success that has made Tamil Nadu proud.

Madurai based Rajeswari Suve could not believe she has ranked all India number  two in civil services. She cracked it incredibly well in her fifth attempt. Rajeswari began her IAS preparation in 2018 and later cracked Group I Tamil Nadu Public Service Examination and is serving as Trainee Deputy Collector in Dindigul district. This opportunity she says propelled her to prepare with focus to fulfil her IAS dream. “IAS Officers can transform lives of millions of people by effectively  taking government schemes to people. I saw this as Deputy Collector and refined my preparation and here I am”, Rajeswari told tellmystory.in

Her father is a businessman and mother an Assistant Professor and Rajeswari is an Engineer. On how disciplined she was in preparation, Rajeswari emphasises on “sticking to just a few sources than cluttering oneself with unlimited sources online”. She also advocates a good support and feedback system from family  and good  friends. On time management, she suggests “micro and macro planning for daily, weekly and monthly targets for preparation” and to have strong “self confidence”.

Rajeswari had enrolled in a private coaching centre and later she also took advantage of the Tamil Nadu government’s “Naan Mudhalvan” scheme that offers financial and training support for promising candidates. Israel Jebasingh, Director of Officers IAS Academy says “It’s not just a proud moment for the  academy but also for the entire State and this achievement of her will be a real motivation for all other aspirants”.

Commenting on a steady decline in  candidates  from Tamil Nadu cracking civil services over the  last few decades, Rajeswari denies there is declining aspiration. She says “With a focussed and channelised preparation we can achieve better results”.

As Rajeswari gears up to take up her dream job, she has emerged as an inspiration for thousands of aspirants,  that focussed, structured and sustained hard work would indeed power one to join the big league of bureaucrats in India.
