Salvation of Shakti

Last night another Nirbhaya was murdered and raped, 

Her body and soul the human vulture scraped. 

She kept begging for mercy, being undraped, 

But alas! The civilized humans were worse than apes. 

Its mouth the demonic lust gaped, 

Her painful cries they videotaped. 

Then they burnt her alive and escaped.

Why again and again, 

Women are being reduced to bodies in tatters. 

By human lust their life is being shattered. 

Is it Patriarchy or is it anarchy, 

Or rule of law and jungle law’s dyarchy, 

That women have been reduced to commodity 

In this heartless world’s hierarchy?

A Durga, a Kali to end this Mahishasur is must. 

We need to end this holocaust of lust, 

By providing safe public spaces that women can trust. 

No more Delhi, Hyderabad or Kolkata in our nation. 

Women can’t be subjected to eternal damnation. 

The society needs to arise, awake and take action.

To end this humiliation and indignation, 

Men need to internalize this notion 

That women have inviolable right to their bodies. 

Only then can SHAKTI attain its true salvation!
