Under the Night Sky

During the day, everything demands our attention. It’s when the sunlight peeps through our windows, urging us to wake up. As we get ready for work or school, it often feels like we are in a constant rush. And yes, beginning a new day is wonderful — filled with fresh opportunities and new lessons. However, I must say, there is something incredibly serene and magnificent about the night sky.

I have always been a night owl. I feel like dreams become clearer at night — It’s when I am most energetic and focused. In fact, I do most of my writing after the sun goes down. There’s something about the night sky; the pitch darkness makes me feel free — unjudged, unhurried and no longer on alert. And it’s not just me who finds the night sky so magical; so many others feel the same. Think about it — whether in movies or books, the most heartfelt and honest conversation usually takes place under the night sky. It doesn’t just look peaceful; it stirs emotions we often hide during the day. Whether it’s an intimate conversation between two people, a group of friends camping or just stargazing in silence — the night sky brings the most human parts of us. Darkness has a way of making everything appear shinier. Everything looks brighter, softer and more enchanting under the night sky.

Even so many beloved poems and quotes use the night sky as a metaphor, and I completely understand why. There is also something about the night sky and the stars that deeply fascinates me. We all know that time flows differently across the universe. The stars we see at night are the ones, which are the ones whose light has travelled all the way towards us — and then back again. Because many of these stars are light years away, by the time their light reaches us, they might’ve already died. There are countless other stars that exist in entirely different timelines, ones we will never truly know because their light will take ages to reach us. So, when we look up at the sky, we are essentially looking into the past — into a completely different timeline. And that idea intrigues me endlessly. I apologize if this sounds confusing, my dear readers. I am no astrophysicist — I’m simply curious. The reason I think about time and the night sky so often is because these thoughts ground me. They remind me that life is bigger than the milestones society expects us to chase. They remind me how much we don’t know — and how that can be terrifying and thrilling at the same time. It also helps me remember that I’m here to experience, feel, and discover more. So, when I look at the night sky, I can’t help but feel completely mesmerized by the fact that I am looking into another timeline, crossing paths with light that has travelled so far just to meet my eyes. It fills me with a deep sense of gratitude — to be a part of this vast universe and to appreciate life even more.

I also feel like my imagination peeks at night. Maybe it’s because there are fewer distractions and disturbances — it’s as if my mind can breathe freely. It is when we can be ourselves without any filters. I often compare the night sky to uncertainty. Just spending some time looking up at the moonlit sky gives me hope. The feeling that life can shift, opportunities can appear, and dreams can unfold at any moment. It holds questions, excitement, fears, and dreams. It gives me a fresh perspective, and sometimes that’s all I need.
