Royal Farewell for Sniffer Dog Rani at Chennai Airport

It was an emotional farewell at the Chennai airport as Rani the sniffer dog retired after ten years of service with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). On the 4th, the senior labrador was taken on a send off parade on a decorated jeep as senior police officials, CISF regional director and even the airport director pulled the vehicle.
Born in Hyderabad, Rani was trained at Ghaziabad and was inducted into the canine squad of the Chennai International Airport in February 2013. “She has been part of many high alert situations including anti-sabotage checks, sniffing bombs and improvised explosive devices. She has always worked with honesty and devotion” told Mr Nabinathan, Inspector.
The farewell was attended by Rani’s canine colleagues as well. It was an emotional moment for two of her police handlers Muthukumar and Jagdish Singh as well.
Though Rani will continue to be with CISF she would not be on duty. “She may also be given on adoption to anyone interested to take care of her among our CISF colleagues” said Mr K V K Sriram, DIG.
