Slaughter Goats Safe in Sanctuary. A Teacher’s Change of Heart
B Gopalakrishnan, a school teacher from a remote Karumathampatti village in Coimbatore, had a change of heart and decided to send 24 goats he reared for slaughter, to an animal shelter in Tiruvallur.Â
It all began a year and a half ago, when he watched videos by animal activist Sai Vignesh, who often posts videos on animal welfare, ethical food choices etc. This triggered a deep sense of introspection within Gopalakrishnan and he decided to not send his goats for slaughter, instead give them a new lease of life. Â
The Teacher managed to contact and visit Almighty Animal Care Sanctuary, run by Vignesh. He was convinced of Vignesh’s dedication and integrity. He then requested Vignesh to take over the goats from his village. Due to limited space at the sanctuary, Gopalakrishnan had to wait for over six months. Finally, receiving the green signal from Vignesh, he transported the goats from Coimbatore to the Animal Sanctuary in Sendrayanpalayam, Tiruvallur District.
“I am very happy to see the animals reach a place where they can be confident that no one will harm them,” Gopalakrishnan said. “I have been watching Vignesh’s videos for the last few years, and I am sure he will take good care of my goats like he takes care of the rest of the animals in his sanctuary.”
Despite facing trolls and threats for his videos, Sai Vignesh remains steadfast in his mission. “In the middle of all the negativity, actions like these keep me going,” Vignesh commented, expressing his happiness at such positive outcomes.
This story of Gopalakrishnan and Vignesh highlights the power of social media in fostering connections and driving meaningful change in the realm of animal welfare.
