You can now order a virtual mini concert by differently-abled singers to enjoy your favourite numbers with  family and friends around the world on your birthday or special occassions. The talented  differently abled singers from across India would perform your favourite music live in English and any Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Malayalam.

It’s a unique attempt by “Atypical Advantage” a startup aimed at creating income generating opportunities for the differently abled artistes across India. It costs Rs 2999// for a twenty minute performance on the zoom platform. “We want to  ensure every differently abled singer in India earns at least Rs 25000 a month through this” says Vineet Saraiwala, Founder & CEO of Atypical Advantage who himself is a visually challenged entrpreneur.

23-year-old visually challenged singer, writer and composer Raj Jain in Kolkata who’s  working to turn into a full fledged musician welcomes the initiative. The pandemic triggered lockdown he says had ruined the livelihood opportunities of many differently abled singers. Raj who’s also the grand pianist at Kolkata’s LaLit Great Eastern says  “This could increase our audience base. It makes us feel special.”

Ankita Patel, a vocalist from Ahmedabad says artistes like her work hard for this and they don't compromise on quality of their performance.

The platform besides giving profiles of the artistes also gives a sneak peek into their performance. The team then coordinates the time and with choice of numbers etc.

Many feel this window could supplement their income. 32 year old Ankita Patel from Ahmedabad who renders popular numbers and  bhajans in Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi loves this concept. “The quality of our singing is as good as abled vocalists. We do lot of hardwork. In normal circumstances music lovers don’t know know we are differently abled”, Ankita says.

The start-up is also working with corporates to introduce this as gift option to their employees. “We have profiles of more than ten thousand people with disabilities over various fields and talents. Over the last fifteen months  we have economically impacted 600 differently abled people” says Vineet who also hopes to expand this solo performance into a full fledged virtual  musical concert roping in bands and instrumentalists.
