
Pongal Breaks Barriers for Maids and Helps

In what’s being seen as a heartwarming gesture that has won many hearts, residents of the posh Seashore Town in Chennai’s Panaiyur celebrated Pongal in a different way by hosting a Kolam cum Rangoli competition for their support staff including domestic helps, cooks, drivers and security guards. Winners received prizes in cash and kind. The idea is to nurture their creative potential and give them a sense of joy, confidence and belongingness. The gesture also, residents say in a way takes art to the masses, breaking barriers.
